The Gem Miner’s Shows are returning with two spectacular events this spring and summer! Operated by the Mid-Atlantic Gem & Mineral Association LLC, also known as Gem Miner’s Shows, these events showcase an impressive selection of gems, jewelry, beads, minerals, fossils, and artisan-crafted gifts. Teresa and Marvin Schwab, the driving force behind Gem Miner’s Shows, bring decades of expertise and passion to the events. Marvin, a gemologist and vendor since 1986, and Teresa, an expert in conference management, founded the Gem Miner's Jubilee in 1998. Their extensive experience continues to shape the success of each show.
The Gem Miner's Spring Show is scheduled for June 13-15 at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, Maryland. This annual event attracts vendors and attendees from around the world, offering a unique opportunity to explore and purchase Earth's finest treasures. The Show will feature engaging and educational presentations, including an inside look at amethyst mining, and meteorite exhibitions, offering attendees the chance to own a piece of space rock! Lapidary enthusiasts will appreciate showcases in the art and science of lapidary work, as well as the craftsmanship of jewelry fabrication. Beading workshops will highlight techniques such as bead embroidery, chain maille, stringing, and kumihimo, a traditional Japanese string braiding technique.
The Gem Miner's Jubilee will take place August 15-17 at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. As a premier event in the industry, the Jubilee features a diverse selection of gems, jewelry, beads, minerals, fossils, and artisan-crafted gifts. Attendees can also explore a wholesale trade room and an outdoor tailgate section, expanding the variety of available items for collectors, enthusiasts, and professionals alike. The Gem Miner’s Jubilee will host the Central Pennsylvania Rock and Mineral Club, where guests can learn about the benefits of membership. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sample unique wines and other libations from a local winery. Additional activities are being planned, so be sure to check their website as the event approaches.
Complementing the Spring Show and the Jubilee is the Gem Miner's Holiday Gem, Jewelry, Mineral, Gift & Craft Show, held every November at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center. Each event presents a distinct collection, inviting attendees to discover high-quality pieces and connect with source dealers. All three shows offer free parking, air-conditioned venues, and full accessibility for individuals with disabilities, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
A standout feature of the Gem Miner’s Shows is the impressive vendor lineup, with over 60 vendors at the spring event, more than 100 at the summer show, and over 80 at the fall festival. The summer and fall shows also feature exclusive Wholesale to the Trade rooms, where licensed buyers can access wholesale products from around the world. Attendees can explore a diverse selection, including rough gemstones, fossils, finished jewelry, beads, and educational exhibits. Many vendors are exclusive to Gem Miner’s Shows, offering rare and unique products not commonly found at other events.
Education and family engagement are also key components of the Gem Miner’s Shows. The events feature demonstrations that highlight the role of minerals and gemstones in everyday life, making them especially appealing to children and families. Hands-on learning experiences encourage exploration and curiosity.
