No clay working experience necessary, this introductory class offers an overview of ceramic clay working and decorating techniques, join James (aka Turtle) to play in the mud! The morning session focuses on clay forming techniques, James will demonstrate and explain the process. The students will then have the opportunity to interact with the clay and form some pieces followed by a 1-hour lunch break. The afternoon session focuses on underglaze decorating techniques and includes information about the glazing and firing process. Students will practice what they learned by decorating 3 - 6 pieces with underglaze color. These pieces will be glazed and fired by James and the finished items will be mailed to the students. By the end of the class, the students will have enough information about ceramics and clay working processes to know if they would like to further pursue this art form.
